The Ultimate Steering Stabilizer for Ford Super Duty Trucks & Jeeps!

The Ultimate Steering Stabilizer for Ford Super Duty Trucks & Jeeps | ICON Vehicle Dynamics

The Super Duty of Steering Stabilizers

Big tires, suspension lifts, and solid front axles can combine into the perfect storm of steering issues. Excessive road feel, steering feedback, and wobble can turn a great truck into a chore to drive. That's why ICON's Centerline™ Steering Stabilizers are the perfect addition to any Ford Super Duty or Jeep JK/JL/JT build sheet.

ICON Centerline Steering Stabilizer installed on a Jeep Wrangler
ICON Centerline™ Steering Stabilizer — engineered for solid front axle 4×4 applications including Ford Super Duty and Jeep JK/JL/JT.

How the Centerline™ Design Works

The Centerline™ Steering Stabilizer features a through-shaft design that eliminates the push/pull sensation associated with traditional steering stabilizers. The result is more consistent damping and a symmetrical steering feel throughout the entire input range — whether you're threading a trail or cruising the highway.

The large 2.5-inch diameter stabilizer body (for Ford Super Duty applications) and piggyback reservoir increases fluid volume to prevent performance fade due to heat and cavitation. The Centerline™ also delivers a significant increase in steering damping compared to stock equipment, improving the driving experience with both stock-size and oversize aftermarket wheels and tires.

Tech Note

2.5-inch shock body diameter for Ford Super Duty applications  |  2.0-inch shock body for Jeep applications. Both units are fully rebuildable using ICON performance shock internals.

The Centerline™ also allows for increased steering travel compared to other aftermarket steering stabilizers. Because the stabilizer body shares components with ICON's proven performance shock absorbers, the unit is fully rebuildable — protecting your investment for the long haul.

Built From Performance Shock DNA

ICON didn't design the Centerline™ from the ground up as a steering-only unit — they leveraged the same proven hardware platform used in their world-class performance shocks. That means the Centerline™ benefits from decades of shock engineering refinement.

Installation is 100% bolt-on using common hand tools. It's an easy job for both professional mechanics and experienced DIY builders, with no drilling, cutting, or custom fabrication required.

Centerline™ Key Features

Through-Shaft Design Eliminates the push/pull sensation of traditional stabilizers for symmetrical steering feel across the full input range.
Piggyback Reservoir Dramatically increases fluid volume to prevent heat fade and cavitation during extended or aggressive driving.
Drastically Increased Damping Provides a measurable improvement in steering damping over stock — critical for large tires and lifted suspensions.
Increased Steering Travel Offers greater wheel travel than ICON's dual steering stabilizer kit — maximizing your suspension's range.
Fully Rebuildable Shares internals with ICON's 2.5 and 2.0 performance shocks, making it a long-term investment you can service and rebuild.
6061 Hard Anodized Aluminum Body Excellent corrosion resistance for off-road environments, mud, water, and everything in between.
7/8" Chrome Steel Shaft Chrome plated, induction-hardened steel shaft for maximum strength and durability under extreme loads.
FK Rod End Bearings Precision rod end bearings deliver exact function and feel throughout the full steering range.
5WT Shock Oil Consistent suspension damping across a wide temperature range — from cold desert mornings to hot trail runs.
100% Bolt-On Installation No drilling or cutting required. Fits with common hand tools — accessible to DIY builders and professional shops alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes steering wobble on lifted trucks and Jeeps?

Steering wobble — also known as "death wobble" in severe cases — is most commonly caused by the combination of oversized tires, suspension lifts, and solid front axles. When these factors are combined, the stock steering stabilizer is typically insufficient to control the increased damping demands. Upgrading to a higher-performance unit like the ICON Centerline™ is one of the most effective solutions.

How is a through-shaft design different from a standard stabilizer?

A traditional steering stabilizer uses a single-ended shaft, which creates an uneven damping effect — firmer in one direction of travel than the other. This produces the characteristic "push/pull" feeling. The ICON Centerline™ through-shaft design creates equal damping in both directions, resulting in a more neutral, consistent steering feel that feels natural rather than mechanical.

Is the ICON Centerline adjustable?

Yes — several Centerline™ applications (including the Jeep JK, JL, and Gladiator JT variants) feature an adjustable configuration, allowing you to dial in the exact damping level for your specific setup and driving style.

What vehicles is the ICON Centerline Steering Stabilizer compatible with?

The Centerline™ line covers a wide range of solid front axle platforms including: Ford Super Duty F-250/F-350 (2005–2025), Ford F-450/F-550 (2005–2024), Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018), Jeep Wrangler JL (2018–2023), Jeep Gladiator JT (2020–2023), and Nissan Patrol Y61 (1997–2023).
